Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in San Marcos. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

How far out do you go from San Marcos?

We regularly cover towns from Redwood at about 5 miles out to Canyon Lake, Seguin, and McQueeney around 20 miles. In between that's Martindale, Kyle, Uhland, Wimberley, Niederwald, Geronimo, Lockhart, Kingsbury, Creedmoor, Mustang Ridge, Driftwood, and Manchaca.

My house was built in the mid-90s. Will parts for my door be hard to find?

Usually not. Most of the housing stock we work on was built between 1984 and 2014, with a lot of it clustered right around 1996, so mid-90s door widths, spring sizes, and opener rail types are what we stock for most often. Older hardware near the front edge of that range occasionally takes an extra day to match.

Do you fix openers or just springs and doors?

Both. Chain-drive openers from the 80s and 90s are common failures in this area, and we carry parts for that generation along with the springs and roller hardware that tend to go with houses of the same age.

Does the weather here cause garage door problems?

It's a mild climate with occasional freezes rather than deep cold, so we don't see cracked panels from extreme temperature swings. What we do see is old spring lubricant stiffening up on a cold morning, which is often the last push on a spring that was already close to failing.

Is it ever better to replace the whole door instead of repairing it?

Sometimes. If the track, springs, and opener are all failing around the same time, especially on an older door, replacing the whole setup can cost less over a couple of years than fixing each part separately. We'll tell you honestly when we think that's the case instead of just doing the repair in front of us.
